Oil on Canvas
Sporting painting combines some of the characteristics of landscape and portraiture. Generally speaking, landscape painters see and paint the forest rather than the individual trees. The portrait artist tends to look for detail and the special qualities of the individual, as well as contemplating the painting as a whole. The sporting artist needs to tread a fine line between the two without resorting to 'illustration'. In other words, he must produce a painting that stands up in it's own right, but still depicts the historical action of an actual event. Graham strives constantly to adhere to this principle - a fact that is obvious when one looks at his work.
Expressed in his own inimitable style, Graham's paintings are powerful, authentic, and valuable.
They are his passion.
